FAQ

Everything you'd want to ask a contractor before hiring one.

Straight answers on estimates, timelines, permits, materials, and how we run a job. Still curious? Give us a call — we're happy to talk it through.

Section 01

Getting started

How do I request an estimate?+

Fill out our contact form or call us directly. We'll schedule a free on-site consultation, walk the project with you, and follow up with a written, itemized estimate within a few business days.

Do you charge for estimates?+

No. Consultations and written estimates are always free, and there's no obligation to move forward after receiving one.

How far in advance should I book?+

For kitchens, bathrooms, and additions we usually book 6–10 weeks out. Smaller repairs and finish work can often start within a couple of weeks.

Section 02

Timelines & scheduling

How long will my project take?+

It depends on scope, but as a rule of thumb: bathrooms 3–5 weeks, kitchens 4–8 weeks, decks 2–4 weeks, and additions 3–6 months. You'll receive a milestone schedule before we begin.

Will I get weekly progress updates?+

Yes. Your project manager sends photos and status notes weekly, and is reachable by phone and text throughout the project.

What happens if the timeline slips?+

We build buffer into the schedule for weather and inspections. If something outside our control causes a delay, we tell you immediately, in writing, with a revised plan.

Section 03

Estimates & pricing

Are your estimates itemized?+

Yes — every proposal breaks out labor, materials, and allowances line-by-line so you know exactly what you're paying for.

Do you require a deposit?+

We typically ask for a modest deposit at contract signing, followed by scheduled progress payments tied to project milestones.

How do change orders work?+

If you change your mind mid-project — it happens — we'll price the change in writing before any additional work begins. No surprise add-ons on your final invoice.

Section 04

Permits, insurance & warranties

Are you licensed and insured?+

Yes. We're a registered Connecticut Home Improvement Contractor and carry full general liability and workers' compensation coverage. Documentation is available on request.

Do you pull the permits?+

For any work that requires one — additions, structural changes, plumbing, electrical, decks — we handle the permitting process from start to inspection.

What kind of warranty do you offer?+

Every project includes a one-year workmanship warranty. Manufacturer warranties on materials (roofing, siding, cabinetry, fixtures) pass through directly to you.

Section 05

Materials & craft

Can I supply my own materials?+

In most cases, yes — though we can usually get better pricing and warranty coverage through our supplier accounts. We'll be transparent about the trade-offs.

Do you offer design guidance?+

For remodels, we help with layout, material selections, and finishes. For larger projects we can coordinate directly with your architect or designer.

What if I don't like a finish once it's installed?+

We'll do a walk-through together at key points — before tile, before paint, before final trim — so decisions get confirmed in daylight, not surprises after the fact.

Section 06

During construction

Can I stay in my home during the project?+

For most remodels, yes. We install dust barriers, protect adjacent finishes, and clean the site every day. For whole-home projects we'll talk through the trade-offs of staying vs. staging elsewhere.

How do you protect the rest of my house?+

Zip walls, floor protection, HEPA filtration where needed, and daily broom-clean. Your living space stays livable.

Who's my main point of contact?+

One project manager owns your job from start to finish. You'll always know who to call, and you won't have to repeat yourself.

Didn't see your question?
